The Pendulum Swings

In his WaPo column, Michael Kinsley makes some of the arguments for higher estate taxes. I basically agree with him on this. There needs to be some measures that move our country toward greater equity and fairness, narrowing the gap between rich and poor. This has always been an issue in our country, going back to the fight between the Jeffersonians and the Federalists during our nation's infancy. The pendulum swings back and forth, between periods of greater and lesser inequality. We have just completed a 30 year era of growing economic inequality and have entered one of greater equality.
