With statistics due out Friday that are expected to show the economy grew much less than estimated in the second quarter of the year, Fed-watchers are hoping Bernanke's comments later that day in Jackson Hole, Wyo., will instill confidence that he has a plan and can act decisively if the economy continues to deteriorate. What is he supposed to be, some kind of wizard? The man come down from the mountaintop with all the answers from God? How ridiculous.
It would be helpful to have some honest answers from this administration and its economic team about the situation we're in. But no, it seems that that would be too politically risky. Besides, who believes Summers and Geithner anyway.
It's time for a new economic team (of course, we're stuck with Bernanke).
