Let me be very clear: though I think the serious political failures of Obama had something to do with this election's results, it was also a result of typically low, mid-term turnout, economic misery on the part of a lot of people, and a huge Democratic majority waiting to be plucked off by a very unhappy and confused electorate.
The Republicans, on the other hand, have presented absolutely no viable plan for anything (except to give more money to the wealthy). They take over power in the House of Representatives but don't seem to have the foggiest idea what to do with it, excerpt to extend the tax cuts for their millionaire supporters, to try and repeal the health care plan, and to defeat Obama. That's it? That's all you've got?
As for Obama, I think that he is on very thin ice right now, politically. But hell, America is on very thin ice, so join the club! And to be sure, we're all in for a very interesting next two years, politically speaking....and absolutely no progress whatsoever toward any solutions of our nation's problem. Both political parties are going to be in turmoil trying to sort out who's in charge, who's going to run for President, what they stand for, what's to be done about the economy, etc.
It's going to be both excruciating and fascinating...kind of like 'shock and awe'. We won't be able to stop watching the destruction.
Ladies and gentlemen, the captain has just put on the seat-belt sign.
It's going to get ugly, that's for sure!!
