The news of two Senators retiring has taken Washington by storm. The announcement by Chris Dodd of Connecticut seems to have been welcome by the Democratic establishment, whereas that by Byron Dorgan was not.
That is my personal take as well. Dorgan was a Senator of integrity, representing the people's interests with honesty and fairness. I'm not at all sure that was true of Dodd.
