Michael Jackson, RIP

Adam and I went yesterday afternoon to see 'This Is It', the last concert rehearsal footage of Michael Jackson, put into movie form. I didn't know what to expect, but it was really good.

Jackson's humanity came alive, far more than one would expect, as you watch him rehearse. And the music was really great on the theatre surround sound system, including some new pieces. The best was saved for last, with a new piece on the need to pull back from our destructive human impact on the planet, the title of which was not given.

I realize that Jackson's last couple of decades were filled with all kinds of failings, sins, possibly even crimes. He was, in many ways, a miserable human being. But he was also a fabulous musician. And this shows him at his best, I think. It was a fitting eulogy.
