The Petition Van Jones Signed That Got Him Fired

In case you've never seen it before (I hadn't until just a few minutes ago), the original Petition that Van Jones signed in 2004, called the 9/11 Truth Statement, can be found here, along with the list of original signatories. It's quite interesting to read, regardless of what you may think of the 9/11 question. The original and still best of the 9/11 websites is here, if you're curious, with all kinds of informational links down the left side of the website, for those who are brand new to the idea of an alternative explanation.

There is currently an effective nationwide ban on discussion of the 9/11 issue in polite company, and anyone who does so is risking their reputation and all that goes with it. It's pretty amazing how the powers that be, in government and in the media primarily, have accomplished this. No law has been passed, no edict ordered, but the stigma is well in place. I've been seeing it develop for several years now, on media outlets of all ideological leanings, left and right. Even 'liberal' cable outlets, like MSNBC, have joined the blackout, including Chris Matthews on 'Hardball'.

The attempt is to make anyone who questions the official 9/11 story sound crazy, paranoid, and out of touch with reality. Or to put it more bluntly, simply insane. With such a stigma of mental illness in place, no average person will be tempted to consider the evidence, let alone talk or write about it in public.

The other tactic, such as with Krauthammer in his column in the Washington Post yesterday, is to make it a violation of our national 'civil religion', with such words as 'desecration'. To question the official 9/11 account is to be unpatriotic, to stain and desecrate the memory of the heroes and martyrs who gave their lives on that day. It reminds me of the religious symbolism and sense of holy awe surrounding the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, wherein Abraham Lincoln is apotheosized into a semi-divine being.

Part of this effort, it seems to me, may be to protect our national justification for the invasions and continuing occupation of both Afghanistan and Iraq. If it were to be shown that somehow Al-Quaeda terrorists were not completely responsible for 9/11, then our justification for our current presence in both Iraq and Afghanistan would collapse. And that cannot be allowed to happen. We are in those countries because of what happened on 9/11. Because of that, it is a Sacred National Cause.

In any case, call me crazy if you want, but there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than most of us realize. Keep your eyes, ears, and mind open. Don't let the government and media do their brainwashing work on you.

Think for yourself. That's a part of what it means to be a true patriotic American.
